Oncology Electronic Roadmaps Digital Platform Receives CIO 100 Award (March 2024)

麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health is honored to be the recipient of the for its Oncology Electronic Roadmaps digital platform. This innovative platform has dramatically improved the quality of care, patient safety, and compliance at Stanford Children鈥檚 by providing efficient, accessible, and streamlined processes. It replaces outdated paper roadmaps, solving previous issues like misplaced documents, clerical errors, and delays in patient care. With approximately 50 faculty members, 20 nurse practitioners, 200 nurses, and 10 oncology pharmacists needing daily access to the roadmaps, there was a prime opportunity to leverage a digital solution that would alleviate these pain points.

Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital is recognized as the top-ranked children鈥檚 hospital in Northern California by the 2023鈥24 U.S. News & World Report Best Children鈥檚 Hospitals survey, a designation awarded to pediatric centers that deliver exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties. The rankings show Packard Children鈥檚 as the No. 3 children鈥檚 hospital in California and the Pacific region. Three specialties ranked in the top 10 in the nation.

, a nonprofit focused on sustainability in health care, recognizes 麻豆果冻传媒 with six awards for decarbonizing health care and protecting the environment. 麻豆果冻传媒 received two Circle of Excellence awards: Packard Children鈥檚 was named a Green Building Circle honoree, while Stanford Health Care was named a Leadership Circle honoree. Both organizations also earned a Greenhealth Emerald Award, reserved for the top 20% of applicants.

Michelle Monje, MD, PhD, Receives 2023 Richard Lounsbery Award (January 2023)

Congratulations to Michelle Monje, MD, PhD, pediatric neuro-oncologist at 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health, for receiving the from the National Academy of Sciences (NAS)! She鈥檚 being recognized for advancing our understanding of pediatric brain cancers and the neurological effects of cancer treatments.

According to the NAS, the Richard Lounsbery Award is a $75,000 prize given to young scientists to recognize extraordinary scientific achievement in biology and medicine and stimulate research.

Monje鈥檚 research focuses on understanding healthy brain development, especially the role of glial cells, which provide supporting functions to the nervous system. Her team also studies how the cells鈥 development goes awry in a group of pediatric brain tumors known as high-grade gliomas, such as glioblastoma and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). She and her team from a trial where they were able to see the benefits of CAR-T cells on brain and spinal cord tumors. and is only available at Stanford.

The National Academy of Medicine is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. New members are elected by current members through a process that recognizes individuals who have made major contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, health care, and public health.

Yvonne Maldonado, MD,听has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 Clifford G. Grulee Award (October 2022)

Yvonne Maldonado, MD, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health, has been selected by the Board of Directors of the American Academy听of Pediatrics (AAP) as the recipient of the 2022 Clifford G. Grulee Award. This award is the highest recognition bestowed by the Academy and was established in 1951 in听honor of who served as secretary-treasurer and, later, executive secretary听of the AAP from its founding in 1930 until his retirement in 1951.听Dr. Maldonado was chosen based on outstanding service to the AAP and being instrumental in the Academy鈥檚 continued pursuit of its mission and service on behalf of the Academy and children.

Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian has recognized two 麻豆果冻传媒 physicians for their contributions this year to the local community. , MD, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health and , MD, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, were awarded supervisor鈥檚 medals by Simitian for advancing the wellbeing of county residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. They showed admirable resilience and offered others inspiration during a difficult year, Simitian said during an online Dec. 14.

PARENTS magazine Most Innovative Children鈥檚 Hospitals (December 2020)

Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford has been named a Most Innovative Children's Hospital by PARENTS Magazine. The PARENTS survey recognizes children鈥檚 hospitals in the United States that have developed medical innovations that have had a meaningful impact on patient care, spanning digital health advances, patient safety, new medical treatments and devices, unique community health programs, and clever ways to keep young patients and their families comfortable in the hospital. To determine this year鈥檚 winners, PARENTS editors surveyed 50 leading children鈥檚 hospitals, inquiring about innovations, response to the pandemic and technology used on a regular basis. More than 200 innovations were submitted overall; among the 15 innovations selected is the 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health program. In addition, the 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health was recognized by PARENTS for its role during COVID-19. Vice President and Associate Chief Information Officer, Lisa Grisim, RN, MSN, honored with 2020 YWCA Silicon Valley Tribute to Women Award (September 2020)

Lisa Grisim is one of 46 women selected to receive a 2020 YWCA Silicon Valley Tribute to Women Award, an honor that celebrates the achievements of women who have excelled in their field and have made significant contributions to the Silicon Valley through their exceptional leadership. 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health is proud to have earned the LGBTQ Health Care Equality Leader designation with a perfect score of 100 on the 2020 Human Rights Campaign Foundation "Healthcare Equality Index." This award recognizes Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital鈥檚 commitment and success in implementing a high standard of听resuscitation care by ensuring that resuscitation patients receive treatment that meets nationally accepted, evidence-based standards and recommendations.

In the U.S. News & World Report 2019-20 Best Children鈥檚 Hospitals听 published online today, Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford once again achieved rankings in all 10 pediatric specialties, with three specialties in the top 10.

Packard Children鈥檚 earned the top rankings for the听neonatology program, sixth in the entire nation. The听nephrology program is the best in California, the听pulmonology program ranked best on the West Coast, eighth in the country, and our听endocrinology program is the top ranked in Northern California. The continual ranking in the top 20 of all children鈥檚 hospital affirm the exceptional quality of care that 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health faculty, physicians and team members continue to provide to patients and their families.

The Most Wired annual benchmarking survey is a leading industry barometer designed to identify and recognize health care organizations nationwide that exemplify best practices through their adoption, implementation and use of information technology (IT). IT innovations such as virtual care for patients with Type 1 diabetes, the Stanford Virtual Heart and telehealth services at 28 primary care sites have made Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford and 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health a trailblazer in technology-driven pediatric medicine and health care IT.

Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford named an IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence (August 2018)

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) has named Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital one of the recipients of its Antimicrobial Stewardship Centers of Excellence (CoE) designation. The IDSA CoE program recognizes institutions that have created stewardship programs led by infectious diseases physicians and ID-trained pharmacists that are of the highest quality and have achieved standards established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It places emphasis on an institution鈥檚 ability to implement stewardship protocols using its electronic health record system and providing ongoing education to its medical staff. Congratulations to Hayden Schwenk, MD, MPH, and team for their efforts to combat antimicrobial resistant infections and protect the safety of patients.

Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford earns two awards for health care design and construction听(July 2018)

The newly opened Packard Children鈥檚 has been recognized in July with two prestigious awards for design and construction. The American Institute of Architects selected Packard Children鈥檚 for their 2018 National Healthcare Design Award, which showcases the best of health care building design, health care planning and health care design-oriented research. The hospital was also honored with a 2018 Silicon Valley Business Journal Structures award for Healthcare Project of the year, which recognizes excellence in Bay Area-based health care construction projects.

The Children鈥檚 Hospitals鈥 Solutions for Patient Safety has been honored with a prestigious 鈥淚nnovation in Patient Safety and Quality at the National Level鈥 award for its focus on advancing the culture of safety across a network of more than 130 children鈥檚 hospitals. The new Main building at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford has been selected to receive a 2017 San Francisco Business Times Bay Area Real Estate Deal of the Year award. The award honors the boldest and most creative real estate deals in the Bay Area in 2017, including new buildings, renovations and projects with the greatest community impact. Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford has been named by the California Health and Human Services Agency to the state鈥檚 C-section Honor Roll. Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford was awarded the prestigious Eisenberg Award for National Innovation in Patient Safety and Quality, the highest patient safety and quality award in the country. Transplant Programs Receive Gold Level Recognition for Organ Donation Outreach (August 11, 2015)

Our Transplant Center was recently awarded with gold level recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services鈥 Health Resources and Services Administration for our organ, eye, and tissue donation outreach efforts in 2014-15. During this period, we worked closely with Donor Network West, our local organ procurement organization, and Donate Life California as part of our strong push to educate and register organ donors within the local community. As the national leader in pediatric organ transplantation, this award reaffirms the positive impact that our transplant center has on not only our patients but also the larger community as well.
