STANFORD, Calif. 鈥� "Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital Stanford and 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health are proud to announce that Chief Information Officer Ed Kopetsky was recently presented with the 2015 Silicon Valley Business Journal, San Francisco Business Times and PwC CIO of the Year . The award recognized his significant contributions to the field of information technology and for his use of IT to advance health care. Throughout his 30-plus year career, Mr. Kopetsky has led, implemented and deployed various IT programs in health care organizations across the country, including Stanford Children鈥檚 Health, Centura Health and Sharp Healthcare. He also developed and supported numerous healthcare clients across the country as a Partner in Healthlink and IBM Global Services.

Since joining Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital and Stanford Children鈥檚 Health as chief information officer in 2009, Kopetsky has been at the forefront of major changes in healthcare and enterprise IT systems. In 2014, Kopetsky completed an innovative, industry-leading, three-year implementation of state-of-the-art enterprise systems in support of integrated patient care, high-performance business and analytics systems, and the connection of patient and consumer systems through new web technologies. The implementation has resulted in a more streamlined process for handling patient data and implementing patient care at Lucile Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital and Stanford Children鈥檚 Health.

Kopetsky鈥檚 career reflects significant achievement, innovation and transformation in the field of information technology. Prior to joining the Stanford Children鈥檚 Health in 2009, Kopetsky was a partner at IBM Global Business Services and Healthlink, a consulting firm specialized in healthcare IT and process improvement (Healthlink was acquired by IBM in 2005). In the early 1990s, he implemented one of the first integrated patient care systems supporting a multi-hospital and physician network at Sharp Healthcare. Kopetsky has also contributed nationally and locally to numerous professional organizations, including serving as Board Chair for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the Microsoft Healthcare Users Group. Kopetsky also chairs the industry advisory board for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
