Historic Agreement to Increase College Entrance and Graduation Rates Signed by Sac City Unified and Region鈥檚 Leading Higher Education Institutions

SACRAMENTO, CA Sacramento City Unified School District announced today a major new agreement with U.C. Davis, Sacramento State, U.C. To Eliminate Budget Deficit And Protect Funding For Students, Sac City Unified Board of Education and Superintendent Call On Employees To Make 鈥淪hared Sacrifices鈥

The Sacramento City Unified School District announced in a video statement on Wednesday that it has managed to find millions in cost savings, with most cuts being made away from the classroom. However, Superintendent Aguilar and Board President Jessie Ryan warned that these cuts will not be enough to entirely address the district鈥檚 structural deficit. Both leaders called on district employees to rise to the occasion and make shared sacrifices to eliminate the structural budget deficit. .

We understand that many of our families count on us to provide students with a safe and supervised environment to go to during the day. We take this responsibility very seriously and before making the decision to keep our schools open, we did check on the air quality conditions at our schools and consulted with leadership at the Sacramento Air Quality Management District.
