Youth Development Support Services (YDSS)

Overview

Youth Development Support Services (YDSS) provides support to teachers and school site administrators in creating an environment conducive to the achievement of academic, as well as social-emotional, success for all students.  Services are based upon the philosophy of building resiliency to assure that students successfully adapt in the face of adversity and develop social, academic, and vocational competence.

Student Advisory Council (SAC)

Overview

The Youth Voice priority of the YDSS department is multifaceted. One primary program centered in cultivating youth voice is the Student Advisory Council (SAC). The SAC is a year-round program that provides an opportunity for incoming 10th-12th grade students to critically research and analyze the problems currently facing Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ youth, and organize to take action against those problems. The SAC strives to promote student voice within the district, recognizing youth as key leaders and changemakers.

English Learner Master Plan

The primary purpose of the English Learner Master Plan is:

  • To provide the district and the schools with a clear statement of policies related to the development, implementation, and evaluation of English learner programs and services.
  • To provide specific procedural guidelines for the identification, assessment, and placement of students; reclassification of students; notification and involvement of parents; the formation and functioning of the District English Learner Advisory Committee and site English Learner Advisory Committees; the annual evaluation of English learner programs; and the use of state and federal funds for EL programs and services.
  • To align policies and procedures with current state and federal mandates.

Notices to Parents/Guardians, Pupils, Teachers

Education Code 35186 requires that the Williams Uniform Complaint Procedure: Parent/Guardian Complaint Rights be posted in each classroom.

The Student Eligibility Notice must be posted in the school office of each school serving students in grades 10-12, the district office, and on the Internet website of the school district according to Education Code Section 37254.
