Sacramento City Unified Moves Forward with Plan to Provide In-Person Learning for Students, Reaches Agreement with SCTA

SACRAMENTO - Sacramento City Unified today announced that it will be ready to welcome students back to in-person learning by April 8. The district is moving forward with its reopening and has reached agreement with the Sacramento City Teachers Association, after months of negotiations. The agreement includes a number of modifications to the district鈥檚 current plan, including bringing secondary students back earlier than previously projected.

Christine Baeta Receives National Award for Lifetime Commitment of Advocacy for Students with Disabilities
SACRAMENTO - Sacramento City Unified School District Chief Academic Officer Christine Baeta this week was awarded by the National Center for Learning Disabilities as an Everyday Champion for students with disabilities. This award, which is given to three individuals each year, is given to one administrator, one teacher, and one parent who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to advocacy and work on behalf of students with disabilities. Ms. Baeta received the Administrator Award.
Sac City Unified School District Opens Learning Hubs at Six School Sites
City of Sacramento and community based organizations support small student learning groups
SACRAMENTO 鈥 The Sacramento City Unified School District announced that six learning hubs have opened at school sites throughout the district. These hubs, organized in partnership with community-based organizations and the City of Sacramento, provide small groups of students with distance learning assistance and other activities. Each learning hub is open to 40 students. Students given priority to participate in the learning hubs are children of essential workers, students with special needs, foster youth, and students experiencing homelessness.
Sac City Unified Celebrates Record High FAFSA Completion Rate; Teams Up With California Student Aid Commission To Kick Off 2020-21 FAFSA Application Period
SACRAMENTO 鈥 Sacramento City Unified School District today announced that record numbers of its students had completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) last school year.
鈥淲e want every Sac City Unified student to graduate college and career ready, and to have the widest array of options when they graduate,鈥 said Superintendent Jorge Aguilar. 鈥淐ompleting the FAFSA expands students鈥 access to college. This school year we hope to break our record again when all Sac City Unified seniors complete the FAFSA.鈥
