Sacramento City Unified School to Provide Mandated Testing at School Site in Community with a Number of Cases of COVID-19
District will deploy rapid response team to provide hundreds of tests in one day at school site

Sacramento, CA 鈥 The Sacramento City Unified School District oversees New Joseph Bonnheim, a dependent charter school that began in-person instruction on August 9, 2021, and is located in an area with high COVID transmission rates. The order to provide COVID tests for students came in a letter from Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) today after 23 cases were discovered on the campus. According to SCPH, it appears more likely that transmission is occurring outside of the school campus.

Sacramento City Unified Welcomes Students to First Day of School and to Full In-Person Learning for the 2021-22 School Year

Sacramento, CA 鈥 Today, the Sacramento City Unified School District welcomed students back for its first day of full in-person learning at all of its 75 school sites throughout the district. It is estimated that approximately 39,000 students will attend the first day in-person for the 2021-22 academic year after more than 18 months of disrupted learning due to COVID-19.

Sacramento City Unified School District Saves Taxpayers Over $5.7 Million by Refinancing School Facility Bonds Approved by Voters in 1999

Sacramento, CA 鈥 The Sacramento City Unified School District (麻豆果冻传媒) announced today that it has refinanced a portion of General Obligation bonds which were issued by the district after voters approved Measure E in 1999. By refinancing the bonds, Sac City Unified saved Sacramento taxpayers more than $5.7 million.

Sacramento City Unified School District to Honor Multilingual Graduates
582 Sac City Unified Graduates Earn the Seal of Biliteracy

SACRAMENTO - The Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education will recognize 582 graduates who have achieved the State Seal of Biliteracy. The Board will recognize these students at its meeting on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition given by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction for graduating high school students who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. The Seal will appear on each student鈥檚 diploma.

Sacramento City Unified School District Wins $2.5 Million Grant to Expand Mental Health Services for Students and Community in South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO - The Sacramento City Unified School District announced today that the district has won a $2.5 million grant to expand mental health services for students and community members  by establishing Student Support Centers at each school site in a network of five schools in the South Sacramento Community Schools (SSCS) consortium.

Sacramento City Unified鈥檚 Luther Burbank High School Unveils New Baseball Field
Ribbon cutting celebrated athletics, and contributions of community members and staff

SACRAMENTO - Luther Burbank High School today hosted a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the new baseball and upcoming softball fields. Community and school leaders attended the event to celebrate the group effort made by community members, elected officials and school staff to provide the new field for use by student athletes. The field replaces the former Burbank field that was notoriously uneven, spurring the phrase 鈥渢he Burbank hop鈥 in reference to the way the ball hopped around as it rolled across the field.

Sac City Unified, City of Sacramento, and Comcast Team Up to Provide Free Internet to Qualifying 麻豆果冻传媒 Families

SACRAMENTO, CA 鈥 Sacramento City Unified School District, the City of Sacramento, and Comcast today announced a new effort to provide Sac City Unified families with free internet access. The new initiative, called Sac City Kids Connect, provides Comcast鈥檚 Internet Essentials program to qualifying low income families with internet access, provided they live in a Comcast service area.
