Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful Education Act (FAIR)
The FAIR Education Act (also known as Senate Bill 48) was signed into law in 2011. It requires that California public schools provide Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful representations of our diverse ethnic and cultural population in the K-12 grade history and social studies curriculum.
According to the FAIR Education Act, instruction in history/ social science shall include the following ethnic and cultural populations in the teaching California and United States history:

SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento City Unified School District is engaged in a series of seven town halls to seek community input on what qualities the Board of Education should consider in hiring a new superintendent. In addition, the district is using its website to conduct an online survey and is posting comments from the town halls on its website. The fifth town hall will be held at Will C. Wood Middle School tonight – Wednesday, March 8. A sixth town hall will be held Thursday, March 9. Both meetings are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m.

SACRAMENTO—Sacramento City Unified Schools are joining Read Across America celebrations across the country. Fans of beloved children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, will celebrate his 113th birthday on Thursday, March 2, 2017. His books and influence on young readers far and wide is recognized each year by The National Education Association (NEA). To celebrate reading and honor Dr. Seuss, the NEA established Read Across America Day on Dr. Seuss’ birthday as an annual nationwide celebration of reading.
