SUNNYVALE, Calif. 鈥� 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health opened the doors to a new pediatric specialty services center on Monday, May 2, to expand access to dedicated outpatient care for children and adolescents, as well as couples dealing with fertility issues.

Located at 1195 W. Fremont Ave, 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health Specialty Services 鈥� Sunnyvale houses more than 20 clinical subspecialties, including endocrinology, dermatology, urology, pediatric development, adolescent medicine and more. Designed for flexibility and comfort, it features large and comfortable exam rooms, adjacent changing rooms, adaptable meeting spaces and plenty of family-friendly design.

The new center is also home to unique medical and therapeutic services that feature the latest technology available. This includes an EEG and pulmonary function lab, a phototherapy room and a radiology suite with ultrasound, fluoroscopy and bone density scanning. A high-tech lab is dedicated to the diagnosis and rehabilitation of sports injuries in young athletes, including concussions. Family-friendly waiting areas are decorated with colorful artwork, beanbag cushions and comfortable, retro-style couches and chairs.

The clinic is the largest of the 10 Bay Area specialty service centers that provide access to 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health experts 鈥� Northern California鈥檚 largest health care enterprise for pediatrics and obstetrics.

鈥淏ringing access to specialty care closer to home is part of our response to an evolving health care environment,鈥� said Kim Roberts, chief strategy officer and chief administrative officer physician practices at 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health. 鈥淢any kids may be treated initially at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, but their follow-up and ongoing care can be provided close to where they live.鈥�

Ensuring preeminent specialty care is more accessible for patients who need it is a huge plus for families, especially in the fast-growing South Bay region. It鈥檚 a model that reduces travel time and stress, and creates more availability for those needing appointments. Nationally, 16 percent of children require some kind of specialty care. Of the more than 500,000 visits to 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health facilities, including Packard Children鈥檚 Hospital last year, over half were specialty care visits. These are chronic, complex and rare conditions that require ongoing care from pediatricians with special training in these complex illnesses 鈥� and often require inconvenient travel to access those specialists.

The building鈥檚 unique and expanded services include:

• A 6,000-square-foot Pediatric Motion and Sports Performance Lab with state-of-the-art equipment. The lab analyzes and rehabilitates children with neuromuscular disorders or sports injuries, and also allows researchers to study the science of movement in young people.

• For the study and treatment of concussions, the lab features Bertec Computer Dynamic Posturograpy (CDP) with Immersive Virtual Reality technology which combines immersive virtual reality environments with highly sensitive dynamic balance plate capabilities, giving the clinician the ability to enhance assessment and training protocols.聽

• 麻豆果冻传媒 Fertility and Reproductive Health, which consolidates reproductive endocrinology and fertility services into one site, with facilities that are open seven days a week. The expanded service includes 10 exam rooms, 5 consultation聽rooms, 2 treatment suites and a telemedicine suite. The IVF lab suite houses embryology and micro-manipulation equipment and features a state-of-the-art air filtration system, specifically designed for the IVF application, contributing to the optimum environment for embryo culture and IVF success.聽 鈥淭he lab and facilities are unmatched,鈥� said Barry Behr, PhD, director of the IVF laboratory. 鈥淏y consolidating into one suite and incorporating new technologies, we will be more comfortable for patients, streamline our workflow and be more efficient in our procedures, which may lead to better outcomes.鈥�

• The Real Time Location System (RTLS) and other leading-edge designs to support a superior patient experience, including a more efficient check-in and less waiting time. The system utilizes infrared and radio-frequency identification technologies.

Patient-focused services such as Recreation Therapy & Child Life, social services, nutrition, and on-call interpreters are onsite for immediate access. Ongoing shuttles to and from the nearby CalTrain station, a private lactation room, and spacious locker rooms with showers are provided for staff.

Addressing a national shortage, 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health has been continuously expanding access to pediatric specialists and subspecialists throughout the Bay Area. Now with 10 multi-specialty service centers, including new locations in聽Los Gatos that opened in August,聽Pleasanton in February,聽Fremont in March and the upcoming opening of the Monterey center in June, families are closer than ever to one of the world鈥檚 top health care brands. These specialty care clinics, along with community hospital partnerships and primary care practices at more than 65 locations in Northern California, bring the preeminence of 麻豆果冻传媒 Children鈥檚 Health within 10 miles of most Bay Area family homes.
