Trustees set to vote on new superintendent for Sacramento city schools
What: The Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Trustees will vote to approve Mr. Jorge Aguilar as the district’s next Superintendent at their May 4th meeting. Mr. Aguilar comes to Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ from the Fresno Unified School District where he has served as a Deputy Superintendent for the past nine years, playing an instrumental role in significantly improving Fresno’s graduation rates. Mr. Aguilar is the son of immigrant farmworkers and often spent his summers as a teenager working in the fields of the central valley. Mr. Aguilar is available to share the personal story of how the migrant education program and Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project based out of Sacramento, helped him rise from a life working in the fields to becoming a national education leader, and now the next Superintendent of one of the largest and most diverse school districts in California.
When: Thursday, May 4th. Media Availability with Mr. Jorge Aguilar will take place between 6:00pm and 6:30pm (prior to the board meeting). The board vote to approve Mr. Aguilar’s hire to the district is expected to take place between 8:30pm and 9:00pm. Public comments will also be taken at that time.
