Sutterville Elementary Celebrates History Day with Hands-On Student Displays
Sutterville Elementary School will hold its Seventh Annual History Day Gallery Walk 鈥 part of the highly regarded National History Day academic competition 鈥 on Wednesday, February 23, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The school is located at 4967 Monterey Way, Sacramento.
Gallery Walk is an opportunity for the more than 100 participating students to showcase projects on the theme of 鈥淒ebate & Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences鈥 as practice for the Sacramento County History Day Competition at Rosemont High School on Saturday, March 12.
National History Day (NHD) is an academic program for elementary and secondary school students. It makes history come alive for America鈥檚 youth by engaging them in the discovery of the historic, cultural and social experiences of the past.
Every year National History Day frames students鈥 research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for the broad application to world, national or state history and is relevant to ancient history or to the more recent past. This year鈥檚 theme, 鈥淒ebate & Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences,鈥 provides an opportunity for students to develop multiple perspectives and understanding of historical content.
