State Champion Lady Lions to be honored with victory parade
CKM girls’ basketball team is first in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ to win state title
April 9, 2015 (Sacramento): The 2015 CIF Division I state champion Lady Lions basketball team of C.K. McClatchy High School will be celebrated with a victory parade through the Land Park neighborhood beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10.
The parade will begin at McClatchy (3066 Freeport Blvd.), wind down Seventh Avenue and 17th Street and end in Brockway Circle. In addition to the marching band, the parade will include convertibles carrying the team, coach Jessica Kunisaki, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, City Councilmember Steve Hansen and Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Board Member Jay Hansen. Before the parade, the school will celebrate with a rally and barbecue on the blacktop at the west end of campus.
The Lady Lions are the first girls’ team in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ history to win a state championship in any sport. The Lions captured the title by defeating Junipero Serra High School of Gardena 65-61 in double overtime at UC Berkeley’s Haas Pavilion on March 17.
