Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ to celebrate Green Apple Day of Service with campus clean ups
‘Where we learn matters’ is slogan for international event
September 28, 2012 (Sacramento): Schools in Sacramento City Unified School District are participating in the first-ever Green Apple Day of Service, an international event sponsored by the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council.
Hundreds of volunteers will be arriving Saturday morning at Bret Harte Elementary School and Will C. Wood Middle School to clean up gardens, harvest fruits and vegetables and plant flowers.At Warren McClaskey Adult Center in East Sacramento, which serves between 110 and 135 adults with developmental disabilities, volunteers will be working to create a garden that will provide students with fresh produce.
Green Apple Day is being coordinated locally by Farah McDill, a 2011 Center for Green Schools Fellow. Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ is the only school district on the West Coast to be awarded a full-time Green Schools Fellow funded by the U.S. Green Building Council.
