July 16, 2014 (Sacramento): The Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education is expected to vote on Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s next superintendent at its meeting on Thursday (July 17).
The finalist candidate is not expected to attend the meeting on Thursday. A press conference with the new superintendent and Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Board President Patrick Kennedy has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18, at the Serna Center (5735 47th Ave.)
Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ has been without a permanent superintendent since the December resignation of former superintendent Jonathan Raymond. A veteran administrator with 34 years of experience in public education, including three decades in California schools, Banda has a track record of lifting struggling schools to academic excellence, focusing on equity and opportunities for students and engaging families and communities in district work.
Established in 1854, Sacramento City Unified has approximately 43,000 students at 75 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Sacramento region.
