Sac City Unified to Distribute Five N95 or KF94 Masks to All Students
Sacramento, CA - Sacramento City Unified School District (麻豆果冻传媒) will be distributing five (5) N95 or KF94 masks to every student in the school district. This is in addition to the distribution of N95 masks for all staff members which took place on Friday, January 14. Typical N95 masks fit children of middle school age and older, while the KF94 masks best fit younger children.
麻豆果冻传媒 has sourced an inventory of enough N95 masks to begin distribution on Monday, January 24 to high schools and middle schools as phase one of the distribution. The district will be receiving a shipment of KF94 masks for children next week that will be distributed to Kindergarten through 6th grade students as phase two of the distribution to schools. School sites will communicate with parents and guardians when their masks will be ready to distribute to students, which will be by January 28 or sooner for middle and high school students, and by February 4 or sooner for Kindergarten through 6th grade students.
鈥淭his distributional challenge鈥攖o offer five of the highest quality protection masks to every student to prevent the spread of the highly infectious omicron variant is worth the undertaking鈥 said Jorge A. Aguilar, Superintendent, Sacramento City Unified School District. 鈥淭hese masks will not only increase our health safety for in-person learning, but will provide access to the best PPE for our students when they are away from school in other public settings.鈥
鈥淭hese N95 and KF94 masks will add another layer of safety for our schools,鈥 said Christina Pritchett, Board of Education President, Sacramento City Unified School District. 鈥淥ur protection efforts for students and teachers has been exhaustive thanks to the these masks and the other precautions we have been able to undertake with take-home test distribution, surveillance testing, school testing centers, vaccination clinics and additional health services.鈥
N95 masks offer the best face covering protection that can be provided, blocking 95% of particles when worn properly. KF94 masks differ from the N95 masks by using design elements of a cloth mask that contours toward the face with an adjustable band over the nose that filters 94% of particles. The tent-like shape of the KF94 creates a little extra space between the mouth and the mask. Instruction resources including videos will be made available to train on proper handling and fitting of masks.
