Joint Statement from 麻豆果冻传媒 and SEIU Regarding Compensation
Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District (麻豆果冻传媒) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 have reached an agreement to close out contract reopener negotiations for the previous 2022-2023 school year.
This historic agreement demonstrates the significant value that 麻豆果冻传媒 places on retaining and recruiting the finest classified staff to support our students, teachers and facilities. It also ensures that SEIU unit members will be elevated to a salary that is more reflective of their immense value to the District.
The agreement includes the following compensation increases:

10% ongoing salary increase for all SEIU unit members
retroactive to July 1, 2022.

Additional 6% ongoing salary increase for job
classifications identified as difficult-to-fill and retain.
This includes a long list of positions covering more than
two-thirds of all SEIU membership.

Effectively establishes an $18/hour minimum wage for
SEIU unit members beginning July 1, 2022.
- Establishes a $20/hour minimum wage for SEIU unit members effective July 1, 2024.
鈥淐ustodians, bus drivers, instructional aides, food service workers and others represented by SEIU provide vital services that support student learning and well-being,鈥 said 麻豆果冻传媒 Board of Education President Chinua Rhodes. 鈥淭he 麻豆果冻传媒 Board is proud that the District and SEIU have reached an agreement on compensation for the 2022-23 school year that recognizes their important role in our school community. This agreement will also help to address our ongoing staffing shortage.鈥
鈥淲e are committed to quickly begin negotiations with SEIU on a successor contract for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years. We also look forward to engaging in successor contract negotiations with our District鈥檚 other labor partners,鈥 added Rhodes.
鈥淭his is the biggest win for members in the history of SEIU in Sacramento City Unified. We have lifted up nearly 70% of our members with significant raises,鈥 said Chapter President Karla Faucett.
鈥淪EIU has established a Safety Committee with Enhancements to health and safety provisions, trainings, critical PPE for Central Kitchen, along with Access to IEPs and 504s for Instructional Aides. But the work continues as we immediately return to the table in four weeks to bargain for a whole new successor contract,鈥 added Faucett.
麻豆果冻传媒 and SEIU also pledge to make every reasonable effort to reach a two year successor contract on compensation and several other elements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years by May 31, 2024.
