Advocates of work-based learning to tour 麻豆果冻传媒 school
Health Professions High School is one of six sites on Linked Learning schedule Wednesday
May 1, 2012 (Sacramento): Statewide advocates for strengthening the connections between K-12 schools, college and the world of work will visit Health Professions High School on Wednesday as part of an all-day Capitol-area tour.
The Spring 2012 Convening is sponsored by Linked Learning Alliance, a collective of education, workforce and public policy advocates. Those visiting Health Professions include representatives of the California Teachers Association (CTA), California State University (CSU), the James Irvine Foundation and Youth Policy Institute.
Health Professions is a Linked Learning pathway, and provides unique opportunities for students to learn about the healthcare industry in partnership with UC Davis Health System, Sutter Health, Sacramento City College and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Students often wear scrubs to school and take classes in such subjects as medical science along with English, math and electives. One hundred percent of past graduating classes have enrolled in college, a remarkable feat for a high school in an urban area.
鈥淚 am so proud that the Linked Learning Alliance selected Health Professions as a stop on its tour,鈥 said Principal Ann Curtis. 鈥淚 can鈥檛 wait to hear what our amazing students have to say about their experience on our campus.鈥
Other tour stops include the Capitol, the Commission on Teacher
Credentialing and the California Department of Education. The
group will hear a keynote address by Senate Pro Tem Darrell
Steinberg.
