Staying sharp: Barbers pledge 300 free haircuts to kids who read to them this summer

July 5, 2016 (Sacramento): To help kids stay sharp this summer, Sacramento barbers are partnering with Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ and Sacramento Public Library on a literacy drive that rewards students for reading.
Ten barbershops have agreed to give away 30 free haircuts this summer to students who read a book to a barber. Sacramento Public Library is supplying 300 books for the initiative.

Sacramento, CA (October 5, 2016) – RedRover, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Sacramento, California, will join IKEA at Golden Empire Elementary School on Tuesday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Sacramento City Unified School District school’s newly transformed classroom space. This classroom, as well as the staff lounge, was remodeled as part of IKEA’s Life Improvement Challenge.

November 4, 2016 (Sacramento): Sacramento City Unified School District’s Board of Education voted Thursday to approve a school facilities agreement with developers of The Railyards Project north of downtown.
