The ESL Programs offer multi-level classes for foreign born students to learn English for every day life in the United States. Students learn life skills, grammar, reading, pronunciation, listening and speaking.
Partners for School Readiness
Program or Service: Partners for School Readiness funded by First 5 of Sacramento & First 5 of California:
PSR provides additional support services to families currently enrolled in the various Child Development services. PSR provides parent education workshops, transition to kindergarten activities and family visitations.

District Wide Advisory Committee
Purpose of the Career Technical Education (CTE) District Wide Advisory Committee:
The Sacramento City Unified School District Career Technical Education Department is responsible for development and implementation of career technical classes. According to federal and state guidelines, these classes should be organized into a scope and sequence and meet industry standards. It is important for the CTE committee to be comprised of a variety of people including, but not limited to: business partners, community leaders, parents, students, educators and other interested parties.
AB 1266 Fact Sheet
Assembly Bill 1266, the School Success and Opportunity Act, is a piece of legislation that was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown in August of 2013 and will go into effect January 1, 2014. It amends the California State Education Code to clarify the roles of school staff in working with students of all genders, and clarifies that students鈥 access to educational resources shall correspond to the student鈥檚 gender identity.
Transgender and gender non-conforming youth face unique challenges and obstacles in schools that may inhibit a student鈥檚 ability to learn. The School Success and Opportunity Act was written to provide these youth with equal access to educational programs.

The mission of this program is to enhance life opportunities and choices of adults with developmental disabilities by nurturing within the individual an increasing and broadening sense of independence and personal fulfillment; empowering the individual to reach her or his maximum potential; developing human potential through integrated life opportunities; and providing high quality services that enable full community inclusion. The major focus of this program is to offer life skills training which emphasizes achievement of greater independence and a less restrictive lifestyle.
