2024-25 Suicide Risk Assessment Procedures
All Grades

Happy new school year!

While we are all focused on the months ahead, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past few months. Our partners at Sacramento County Behavioral Health recently shared with us that this was a record summer for youth suicide attempts in our county; including 13 attempts requiring hospitalization in one day alone.

The United States Surgeon General has been calling youth mental health a national epidemic for two years, and locally this rings true.

Homeless Students Protected from ConCapping
All Grades

Dear Principals,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to remind everyone of the critical rights of students experiencing homelessness, particularly regarding their ability to remain at their school of origin, even in cases where the school is overenrolled.

Under California Education Code Section 48852.7, students experiencing homelessness have the right to stay at their school of origin for the duration of their homelessness. This right applies to ConCapping, ensuring that these vulnerable students are not displaced due to over enrollment.
