Sac City Unified Demands SCTA to Cease and Desist its Unlawful Effort to Block Students’ Access to the District’s Distance Learning Plan
Letter orders SCTA leadership to end attempts to create confusion for students and families preparing for distance learning

SACRAMENTO – Sacramento City Unified School District today sent a cease and desist letter to the Sacramento City Teachers Association calling on SCTA to cease its direction to its members to ignore the district’s distance learning plan and schedules. Sac City Unified students can little afford any disruption to their education, as 70 percent of students are low-income, foster youth, or English Learners. All students have been impacted by this health crisis, and require a high-quality distance learning program when school resumes.

Sacramento City Unified Prevails in Fight to Protect Cost Savings for Students

SACRAMENTO -  Sacramento City Unified School District prevailed today in an arbitration with Sacramento City Teachers Association (SCTA) over a 2017 contract dispute between the parties regarding the application of health care savings.    

The arbitrator’s decision agrees with the district and found that district did not violate the contract.

Sac City Unified Releases Details about its Distance Learning Plan

SACRAMENTO – Sacramento City Unified School District released at its Board Meeting details on its full distance learning plan, after the announcement by the district - and others throughout the region – that its students would begin the year remotely. Sac City Unified begins its academic year on September 3 and is currently developing a six part “Return Together” plan. The Board presentation can be viewed here.

Sacramento City Unified School District Announces Next School Year to Begin with Full Distance Learning

SACRAMENTO – Sacramento City Unified School District announced today that students will begin the school year on September 3 with a full distance learning program. This decision was made in close consultation with public health officials and the Sacramento County Office of Education, to protect the health and safety of students and staff as new COVID-19 cases have drastically surged and testing results are delayed.

Kennedy High School Teacher Honored by the Special Olympics of Northern California

SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento City Unified Teacher Chloe Stidger was honored by the Special Olympics Northern California (SONC) for her efforts to go above and beyond for students and encouraging an environment of inclusion and acceptance. Stidger is a Special Day & Autism Teacher at John F. Kennedy High School (JFK) and was honored alongside five other teachers in Northern California.
