American Indian Education Program
The purpose of the Title VI Indian Education Formula Grant is to fulfill the Federal Government’s unique and continuing trust relationship with and responsibility to the American Indian/Alaska Natives for the educational needs of American Indian children. The Federal Government will continue to work with local educational agencies (Sacramento City Unified School District) toward the goal of ensuring programs that serve American Indian children are of the highest quality and provide for not only the basic elementary and secondary educational needs, but also the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of these children.

Enrollment Qualifications
Qualifications for services through the American Indian Education Program:
- A student is eligible if he/she is an enrolled member of an American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Group
- Or if his/her parents or grandparents are an enrolled member of an American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Group.
- A complete 506 form on file for each child.
Parent Committee
In efforts to engage parents and the community, we encourage your participation in the Parent Committee meetings scheduled for the year. Any parent with a student enrolled in the Indian Education Program is eligible to be a committee member. The parent committee advises, approves, and signs off on programs allocated for the American Indian Education Program within the yearly grant. Parents are our strongest advocates for change and growth of the AIEP by informing staff, administrators, and programs that serve their students on a daily basis.

Native Youth of Sacramento (NYS)
NYS is the youth group made up of 7th-12th grade Native students out of the Sacramento City Unified School District. The purpose of the youth organization is to enhance the general educational experience of Native students by providing a safe space where bi-weekly meetings are held. As youth leaders, they collaborate with Native community events and provide the student voice within the district to promote the educational needs and advancements for our Native youth.
Enrollment Qualifications
Students can qualify for academic assistance by filling out at Title VI Student Eligibility Certification Form.
