Transitional Kindergarten
Sacramento City Unified has expanded its transitional kindergarten to 39 locations for the 2024-2025 school year.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a stepping stone between preschool and kindergarten. The optional program provides students with an additional year of preparation, so they enter kindergarten with stronger academic, social, and emotional skills needed for future success in school.

What Are Community Schools?
Community schools are the future of public education. Schools partner with parents, guardians and organizations to create the conditions students need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Community members are engaged to advise how community school grant funding should be invested to meet the unique needs of students and their families. Each designated community school site has an embedded staff member whose job is to connect with stakeholders and elevate their voices to the district Community School Specialist to inform how funds will be spent.

James W. Marshall
Elementary School
James W. Marshall Elementary is located in the heart of the Rosemont community. The staff at James Marshall is committed to the academic and social emotional success of every student. We have several programs that enhance our daily classroom instruction. We provide leveled intervention in English-language arts for all primary students during the school day. This allows for small group instruction at the students’ instructional level. James Marshall has a partnership with CSU Sacramento and benefits from two different programs.
