To kick-off , Sacramento City Unified School District’s Food Literacy Program will be announcing that Raley’s has awarded $72,000 to the program. The Food Literacy Center inspires and teaches low-income elementary children to eat their vegetables by teaching them to cook and the importance of nutrition to improve our health, environment and economy. The programs mission is to inspire kids to make healthier food choices.

Other available jobs covered by the fair include instructional aides in special education and child development, library media tech assistants and various substitute positions.

Sacramento City Unified Board of Education approves 2017-18 school district budget, faces future budget deficits
District reserves will cover current budget but state-mandated PERS/STRS contribution increases and a $621 million other post-employment benefits (OPEB) unfunded liability will require district to reduce spending in future years

SACRAMENTO, CA – On Wednesday night, the Sacramento City Unified Board of Education unanimously approved a $566.99 million budget at a special meeting of the board. While current revenues are sufficient to cover spending for the 2017-18 fiscal year, budget staff warned that spending in future years will need to be reduced in order to avoid fiscal trouble.

SACRAMENTO, CA – After almost nine months of teacher contract negotiations, including four unsuccessful mediation meetings with the assistance of a State Mediator, the Sacramento City Unified School District today filed a request with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) to conduct an independent and unbiased review of its contract offer to the Sacramento City Teachers Association (SCTA)—the union representing the district’s 2,400 teachers and other employees.
