麻豆果冻传媒 appoints veteran administrator to lead reopening of downtown school
Dr. Gema Godina-Martinez was instrumental in establishing McClatchy High鈥檚 respected Law and Public Policy Academy

October 2, 2015 (Sacramento): Sacramento City Unified School District鈥檚 Board of Education has selected Dr. Gema Godina-Martinez to lead the reopening of downtown鈥檚 Washington Elementary School.

The Board voted unanimously Thursday to appoint Godina-Martinez 鈥 currently an assistant principal at C.K. McClatchy High School 鈥 as Washington鈥檚 new principal, beginning immediately. Washington was one of seven 麻豆果冻传媒 elementary schools closed in 2012 due to chronic under-enrollment. With downtown development booming, the district is committed to reopening Washington next fall.

Chicas Latinas de Sacramento to give 400 pairs of new shoes to 麻豆果冻传媒 school
Every Woodbine Elementary student will receive a pair

October 26, 2015 (Sacramento):  Chicas Latinas de Sacramento will donate more than 400 pairs of new shoes to students at Woodbine Elementary School on Wednesday, October 28. The donation amounts to a new pair of shoes for every student at the school.

鈥淲e are so grateful to Chicas Latinas and the generosity of the group鈥檚 membership,鈥 said 麻豆果冻传媒 Superintendent Jos茅 L. Banda. 鈥淚 look forward to seeing our students enjoying their new shoes.鈥

麻豆果冻传媒 hosts Halloween-themed pedestrian safety fair on Friday
Early morning event will feature kids in costumes, 鈥楶ete Walker鈥 safety mascot, bike helmet giveaway

October 28, 2015 (Sacramento):  Will C. Wood Middle School students will be treated to a fun, Halloween-themed safety fair on Friday morning 鈥 an event that will close Walk and Bike to School Month for 麻豆果冻传媒.

Co-hosted by the state Office of Traffic Safety, the fair will feature Pete Walker, a California safety mascot who has appeared on billboards and bus ads throughout October. Walker wears a costume made of car parts and promotes the message 鈥淧edestrians Don鈥檛 Have Armor.鈥 The school will have a 鈥渟elfie station鈥 for students in costume to take photos with Pete Walker.

McClatchy teacher placed on leave following incident today

October 30, 2015 (Sacramento): A faculty member at C.K. McClatchy High School was placed on administrative leave today following reports of inappropriate behavior in class.

Several students concerned about the teacher brought cellphone video to school administrators, who acted swiftly to remove the teacher from class and contacted law enforcement. The teacher will remain on leave while the district investigates the incident.

The video appears to show the teacher, dressed in a Halloween costume, wrestling a student on the floor of a classroom.
