November 4, 2014 (Sacramento):  John Sloat Elementary School students will get a glimpse of rural life when farm animals visit the campus on Wednesday for Farm Day, an annual event sponsored by Sacramento County 4-H Clubs.

Club members will exhibit their animals 鈥� which may include cows, pigs, goats, sheep or chickens 鈥� and demonstrate how they care for their livestock.

The 4-H Farm Day has been a tradition in 麻豆果冻传媒 since 1987.

November 13, 2014 (Sacramento): A bust of the late labor leader and civil rights activist Cesar Chavez will be unveiled on Tuesday, November 18, at the 麻豆果冻传媒 school named in his honor.

November 20, 2014 (Sacramento):  The holidays are a busy time of year 鈥� especially for vandals, thieves and arsonists looking to take advantage of empty school campuses.

麻豆果冻传媒 is asking the community to help keep our schools safe and secure over the Thanksgiving Break (November 24-28) by reporting suspicious activity on any of our 75 campuses.

鈥淢ost of our schools are surrounded by homes, and we need those neighbors to join us in protecting these valuable and sometimes vulnerable community centers,鈥� said Sacramento Safe School Office Manager Nina Delgadillo.

Superintendent Jose Banda called on all teachers in the Sacramento Unified School District to be leaders in teaching computer science to their students by joining the worldwide 鈥淗our of Code鈥� movement.

Tens of millions of students of all ages and backgrounds have already tried an Hour of Code, a one-hour introduction designed to demystify computer science and show that anybody can learn the basics. This year, Banda, along with other leaders in the education and tech fields such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, are hoping to reach 100 million students.

March 11, 2014 (Sacramento): Sacramento City Unified School District鈥檚 Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Thursday (March 13) to discuss the search for a new superintendent to replace Jonathan Raymond, who resigned in December.

The Board will meet at 5 p.m. with representatives of the executive search firm Leadership Associates of La Quinta, recently selected to direct the search for a permanent superintendent.  The Board is expected to discuss the process for filling the position and create a timeline for meetings to receive public input.
