Focus Schools
A select group of schools that would like to focus school-wide on mathematics will work in teams to learn the Mathematics Common Core Standards utilizing an inquiry-based design methodology. Sessions will focus on building mathematical content knowledge and teaching for deep conceptual understanding. Emphasis will be placed on integration of Standards for Mathematical Practice and the explicit inclusion of the six instructional shifts. Participants will develop learning modules, consisting of classroom assignments/tasks, task-specific criteria for assessing student learning, instructional plans, grade level interim assessments, and annotated student work exemplars. Teachers will engage in on-going analysis of student work.
