鈥淚 tell my patients that my job is to help them be informed.鈥
Childhood is such a fascinating time, and it鈥檚 my job to help make the world seem a little less scary and make a little more sense, without decreasing the wonder of it.
Before diving into a care plan, I try to understand what a patient鈥檚 needs and expectations are. It鈥檚 important for me to try to put myself in both the child's and parents鈥 shoes and look at things from their perspectives. I tell my patients that my job is to help them be informed and make the best decisions they can.
The saying, 鈥淏eing a parent is like taking your heart out of your body and letting it walk around outside,鈥 really captures how incredibly vulnerable the parenting experience is. Parenting three kids has been transformative, and I try to use my own experiences to help smooth out the wrinkles that crop up along the way.
